My Story of Hope
Twenty years ago, I faced the worst crisis of my life so far. It’s a looooong story but I will just share the details here about the importance of hope and faith.
The year was 2001 and we were just about to celebrate our daughter’s first birthday. I sat proudly with her on my lap and we sang to her and she blew out the candles. Inside though, my heart and mind were heavy. The next day I was starting chemotherapy.
A few weeks prior, I wasn’t feeling well and went to the doctors. After several visits, the doctors discovered that I had lymphoma. Later that same week, I also found I was five weeks pregnant with our second child.
Obviously, this shook me to the my core. I quickly turned to my faith in God to provide hope and a positive outlook. With the help of God, my doctors, and the support of my family and friends, I made it 9 months without treatment and gave birth to a healthy baby girl.
After months of chemotherapy, I was then in remission where I still am today.
If I did not have faith and hope, the journey throughout that pregnancy would have been even harder. Faith and hope empowered me to persevere and get through each difficult day. It was very powerful for me and changed me forever.
